The first Bulgarian Rotary Club is charted in 1933 in Sofia. Those who laid the foundations were:
 President Dr. Nedkov, Vice president Dr. Nikolaev, Secretary P. Boyadjiev, Treasurer Eng. Kadiisky, Sergent-at-armes V. Hristov.

The new history of Rotary in Bulgaria begins in 1991. The District 2480 is putting together Serbia, Monte Negro, Northern Greece, FUR Macedonia and Bulgaria's Rotary Clubs. But since July 1st 2007 Bulgaria is a separate District 2482.
The opening of the new District celebration will be held on July 1st at the Ancient  Theatre in Plovdiv.
